Stampede Find Some Life Against Marple

The NJ Stampede managed to pull away with two points against the Marple Gladiators this past weekend. Marple, who was plagued with a relatively short bench, played well against the Stampede, but with the Jersey boys having a full roster, they would ultimately come out on top of this tilt as they progressively wore down the Jason Yocum and his Gladiators. Game one started quick and early for the Stampede as TJ Plaugher fired a pass across the crease mouth to Chris Havelock who put it home. This would ignite an offensive explosion in game one. Almost every single player in the line-up would tally at least one point. Bob Marckowick continuing his point streak with four points as well as minor league call up, Mike Sullivan who would really for two, first period

goals. Recently signed defensemen Brian Noble and Kipp Ranno were two of the biggest highlights for New Jersey, as the pair notched 4 points in game one and played excellent defense. Although the Stampede was all over Marple, credit is due to Jason Yocum, Marple's goaltender, who was peppered with 40 shots in game one, stopping 31 of them. Game two would be a much closer tilt until the second period as Marple held the Stampede to a 5-3 score at the half, in favor of New Jersey. The second period however would be all New Jersey, as the Stampede rallied 5 goals, with the game winner coming early in the second period at the hands of Chris Havelock, who took a feed from MIke Sullivan out of the corner to beat Yocum. The stand out performances however came once again from the defensive core, as TJ
Plaugher would notch a hat trick in game two and Brian Noble looked phenomenal as he again rallied for 3 points alone (1g,2a). Yet again, the goaltenders in this match-up faced shot after shot, as Yocum turned away 20 of 30 shots and Kyle D'Aloisio turned away 22 of 27 shots. Both goaltenders looked incredible and did all they could to turn away the onslaught of offense. For the Stampede, it was a much needed 4 points in the standings as the season winds down, they will need every single point possible as room for error is no more. With 10 games remaining in the regular season, it appears as though the Stampede will have to battle Feasterville for the fourth and final playoff spot in the division, should the trend continue the way it has. Feasterville has a number of games in hand on the Stampede, thus making the last stretch of games for New Jersey very crucial.
